A majestic and mysterious temple, immersed in the wild nature, located in the heart of Cambodia. If these ruins seem familiar to you, it's because you've certainly seen them before tomb raider, the video game, which later became a film, starring Angelina Jolie. In the shoes of sexy archeologa Lara Croft, the actress shot many scenes of the film right among these ruins, which later became famous throughout the world.

The temple, renamed Tomb Raider, is actually called Your Prohm and is located in the heart of the jungle in Cambodia. Here the wild nature is gradually invading the entire site, with the strangler ficus which, just like in adventure films, have taken over the ruins, incorporating the walls into their trunk.

Ta Prohm is part of the places of worship of Angkor and it is undoubtedly the most famous, thanks to Simon West, director of Tomb Raider, who chose the temple as the location for some filming of Lara Croft. Climbing plants, trunks and centuries-old roots now represent part of the charm of the temple which attracts thousands of tourists every year and is one of the best-known archaeological sites in the area. Here once stood hundreds of Buddhist and Hindu sacred buildings, today mostly destroyed and swallowed by the jungle. After the fall of the Khmer empire, the structure was abandoned for centuries and restoration work began only in 1900.

According to the provisions of French School of the Far East, Ta Prohm was chosen as it was found for “a concession to the taste for the picturesque”, as he revealed the archaeologist Glaize, who chose Ta Prohm because it was "one of the most imposing and because it blended best with the jungle, but not to the point of becoming completely enclosed [...] Perfect for creating this condition of apparent neglect." The temple won over not only spectators from all over the world, but also Angelina Jolie, who fell in love with Cambodia during the filming of Tomb Raider, so much so that she adopted her first child Maddox, precisely in this country which today she considers "her second homeland".
