Not far from the Venezuelan coast, Aruba is a Caribbean island part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. It is located in Caribbean Central America, has very little vegetation and splendid white beaches. Being one of the safest Caribbean islands (thanks also to the low percentage of poverty and unemployment) makes it a favorite destination for Americans on holiday, as well as a popular destination for honeymoon couples from all over the world.
Among the most evocative places d’Aruba there is the Renaissance Island, private artificial island owned by the Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino, open every day from 7.00 to 19.00 and reachable from the latter in 8 minutes by speedboat. It arises here, there Flamingo Beach. A beach for adults only (children are not allowed), populated by dozens of pink flamingos constantly searching for food. With them, it is possible to swim in the sea, giving yourself a unique experience during your holidays. Curious and fearless, flamingos approach humans without fear, seeking food from their hands: it is precisely this somewhat "intrusive" character that has pushed the hotel owners to ban access to the island for the little ones.
In reality, Renaissance Island is not only inhabited by pink flamingos: There are also a lot iguana on its beach. It is a real private oasis, the island. There is the Spa Cove, where you can relax with a nice massage, there are areas where you can play beach tennis. And then the Papagayo Bar & Grill, for lunches overlooking the flamingos, and the Mangrove Beach Bar, which has recently opened and is the perfect place to have a drink at sunset. Or for a regenerating break between swimming in the crystal clear water, and hours lying sunbathing on the white beach.
Aruba's Flamingo Beach is not the only place in the world where it is possible to admire pink flamingos up close. Even in very Italian Sardinia, they can meet. Just go to Villasimius where, lo Nottieri pond, behind the beach of Porto Giunco, is a body of salt water which - especially in winter - is chosen by pink flamingos as their home.
