The city of Ebbs, in Tyrol, is famous for being the largest city in Tyrol, but also for hosting the largest Aveglinese horse breeding farm in all of Europe. In August, however, the town of Ebbs is filled with smells and colors because it is home to the Ebbser Flower Parade, the largest floral art parade from Austria.
A true flower carnival which, for about 20 years, has taken place at the end of August. The celebrations begin on Thursday, with parties in the mountain pastures, dances, live music, craft stalls and many gastronomic specialties.
On Saturday comes the climax of the festival, with the parade of allegorical floats decorated with floral decorations, among which dahlias predominate. We all met at the Blumenwelt Hödnerhof nursery, to prepare our own cart and learn all the secrets of floral and children's art. There are no predefined themes, everyone can participate in the parade with the float decorated according to their creativity.
On Sunday The most beautiful float is awarded, with a great party in which the flower queen, the queen of flowers, godmother of the event. The floats then remain on display for a few days in the Hödnerhof nursery, where anyone can come and admire them up close.
This year the celebrations begin Thursday August 24, with the parade on the 26th and the awards ceremony on Sunday, August 27.
If you are in Ebbs to attend this extraordinary Carnival of Flowers, you cannot miss also visiting the foal stud with the Haflinger horse stud, the largest in Europe. Next door there is a museum where exhibitions of Haflinger horses are held periodically.
Once again, for animal lovers, you can't miss it either. Ebbs zoo, one of the only parks in Tyrol with such a number of exotic animals. Among the species kept at the zoo are the maned wolf, the catta lemur, flamingos and coatis.
Summer is also the perfect time for hiking, climbing, and mountain bike tours.
