Inaugurated in July 2018, the Garda cycle path, Garda by Lake, but already nicknamed the "cycle path of dreams", is the most panoramic in Italy and, perhaps, one of the most beautiful in Europe. A steel walkway borders the lake, at the height of the Limone sul Garda, in the province of Brescia.
In some points it rises above the water, attached to the living rock, offering those who walk along it an impressive view of the other bank, that of the Trentino. But above all, the bike lane has zero impact.
So far 280 thousand people have traveled it. There are still a few kilometers of cycle path (at the moment there are only 2 and it ends in Capo Reamol, but an extension is planned, initially to Riva del Garda, for a total of 12 km) that changes scene each time. fold.
While waiting for the path to lengthen, starting from Limone you can make other beautiful itineraries, by bicycle but not only, on roads with little traffic.
Among them, the most recommended is the one that leads to Forra and goes up towards Tremosine and Tremalzo. On the border with Trentino. We tour Lake Garda, with its palm trees and splendid flowers that remind us of a more marine than lake landscape. Then you begin to ascend until you reach 1.800 meters above sea level, pedaling along dirt roads and going through old tunnels.
The most suggestive point is the village of Tremosine sul Garda, which contemplates, on the other side of the lake, the grandeur of Monte Baldo. The path that runs along the deep gorge of the Brasa torrent is sometimes carved into the rock and other times cantilevered over breathtaking cliffs. At its inauguration in 1913, a Frankfurter Zeitung correspondent called it "the most beautiful street in the world."
Walking along it you can go in a few minutes from the liveliness of the Garda coast to the tranquility of the plateau, from whose terraces overlooking the lake nature shows all its splendor. Of the call Emotion Terrace, suspended 350 meters above the lake, the view is impressive. The route is less than 40 km and is of medium level. Throughout the entire itinerary you will come across shelters and hamlets where you can stop from time to time and admire the landscape from the heights.
