A train trip, one of the slow ones. A journey through bucolic landscapes, according to a way of traveling reminiscent of the past: this is the promise of the new steam train, which will soon be in service between London and Windsor.
Starting next summer it will be possible to board an imperial-looking steam train and enjoy a champagne brunch to reach Windsor Town on the banks of the Thames River (west of London) famous for housing the castle of the same name, residence of the English royal family. This is a trip that can be done between June and September. from London Waterloo station, the busiest in England.
The Royal Windsor Steam Express will be towed by the 1948 Mayflower. Departs on Tuesdays at 8.02:11.10, 14.30:XNUMX and XNUMX:XNUMX from London, and passengers will be able to choose whether to travel in standard class (at the price of $40) if you opt for the all-inclusive formula which, for $98, also includes a champagne brunch in the dining car.
And aboard the historic steam train is a decidedly atmospheric way to enjoy a trip out of the city during a stay in London. In fact, Windsor is a famous destination for hosting Royal Family weekends and ceremonies, such as the wedding between Harry and Meghan that took place last year. But it's not just the city of Windsor castle, this: there are also the Alexandra Gardens, Windsor Great Park with the deer in freedom and the Casa Frogmore where Carlo's youngest son and his wife lived for a time, and which will be open to the public on selected dates next May. If you are looking for something alternative, you can also visit Legoland or perhaps visit the Windsor & Eton Brewery, in the heart of the city.
But the Royal Windsor Steam Express won't be the only steam train to begin its journey from Waterloo this summer. Also on Tuesday, but at 18.00:XNUMX p.m., the Sunset Steam Express will depart: a four-hour round trip, which will allow travelers to dine on traditional dishes surrounded by nature Surrey hills. In this case the cost will be 56 euros if you opt for the solo trip, 114 euros for the Premier Dining option and 149 euros for the Pullman Style option.
