Perhaps, without knowing it, you have already happened to admire the wonderful island of Skopelos; in fact it is here that the famous film “Mamma mia” was shot.

Where to sleep in Skopelos
First it is important to point out that in Skopelos there are 2 port cities: Skopelos Town and Loutraki, both can be a great alternative to stay in Skopelos.
As I told you, we are talking about a less touristy island than other Greek islands, a place where you can breathe an authentic atmosphere where you can live in full contact with nature.
It is certainly not the island of fun and parties, as it can be Skiathos. It is an island to be explored as much as possible, to admire its varied landscapes and its beautiful beaches.
For this reason, the city of Skopelos is perhaps the best place to stay. Well connected to the other islands, convenient for getting around even by public transport, it offers all tourist services and there are several restaurants, taverns and a few bars.
Then there are other good alternatives for all tastes, such as: Panormos, Glossa, Stafilos, Neo Klima o Agnontas. So let's see each of these locations in detail.
1. Skopelos Town - Chora: The Best Choice
Skopelos Town, the main port, is the perfect base for exploring the island, whether you prefer to travel by public transport or have a car.
The city, also known as Chora, is the only place where you will find some movement and evening life, no parties and discos, but excellent taverns, shops and some places for after dinner.
During the day you can therefore visit the wonders that the island offers and in the evening you will have something nice to do.
Skopelos Town is a beautiful and charming town with its white houses overlooking the sea and narrow streets lined with artisan shops.
There are two city beaches on either side of the port, obviously they are not the best on the island, but it will be enough to take a few kilometers to reach better beaches such as Velanio Beach o Stafylos Beach.
Finally Skopelos Town, can be convenient if you are traveling with a lot of beams, but it is better to choose a structure near the port, also because there are many stairs in the city.
2. Stafylos: Close to the Beach and Skopelos Town
If you want to stay a stone's throw from a beautiful beach but at the same time want to stay not far from Skopelos Town (about 4km), Stafylos is for you.
It is the ideal solution for those who want to get around the island and visit the most beautiful beaches and on some days prefer to stay in the area and enjoy a little relaxation on the beach. Stafylos Beach is very beautiful and perfect for families with children.
3. Panormos: The best beaches
Panormos is the best choice where to sleep in Skopelos for those looking for a purely seaside and relaxing stay, close to the most beautiful beaches.
Panormos beach is a mixture of sand and pebbles, a beautiful cove sheltered from the winds, with a calm and crystalline sea. It is no coincidence that it is considered by many to be the most beautiful on the island.
You will find several bars, restaurants and taverns lining the sea. The location is also excellent, it is located on the west coast about 12 km from the city of Skopelos.
4. Glossa - Loutraki: the Second Port
Glossa, located in the northwest of the island, is the second most important city of Skopelos. It is a quiet location, much less touristy than Skopelos Town.
Also here, more precisely in Loutraki, is the second port of the island. Glossa is located on a hill 300 meters above Loutraki, from here you can admire incredible views and sunsets, perhaps enjoying an excellent dinner in one of the various restaurants with a view. The best thing, however, is to stay in the lower part, in Loutraki, a stone's throw from the beautiful beach.
5. Neo Klima: Beaches and Relax
Neo Klima is a tourist resort on the west coast, located near some of the most beautiful beaches on the island and 20 km from the capital.
It is a small town which however offers all the services: bars, taverns and supermarkets. Less touristy than Skopelos Town, it is the perfect place for those looking for a relaxing and quiet stay.
There are a number of hotels and holiday homes with spectacular sea views and with access to small and wonderful coves bathed by transparent waters and unique colors.
Do not miss the splendid Hovolo Beach, a beach with an incredible sea that can be reached on foot from Neo Klima, through a short path between rocks and the sea.
6. Agnontas
Another option for a stay in Skopelos could be Agnontas, well located near the most beautiful beaches and only 8 km from Skopelos.
It is a very quiet small port city, there are few taverns and a mini market; to find some movement you have to go to the capital. It is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the beaches and nature.
