The pandemic has had serious repercussions on the tourism sector also in Bolivia (where losses are around a billion dollars) but an idea immediately came from the Government to restart the sector: extra holidays for public employees to be exploited to discover the national beauties.

The Andean country has 500 thousand people who work in local administration and who, depending on their seniority, are entitled to an annual holiday period of between two and four weeks. In addition to that, thanks to the tourism relaunch project valid throughout 2021, they will get a increase in holidays equal to 20-30% to be converted into holidays within the Bolivian borders.

And they will undoubtedly be spoiled for choice. In fact, Bolivia offers numerous tourist attractions known internationally from Uyuni Salt Flats, the largest salt flat in the world, located in the Andes.

With an unmistakable lunar landscape, this desert territory is characterized by very white salt, islands rich in cacti and rock formations, and extends for approximately 11.000 square kilometers. Devoid of wildlife, it is however embellished by the presence of countless pink flamingos.

Another destination not to be missed is the Lake Titicaca, nestled in the Andes chain between Bolivia and Peru, the highest navigable lake in the world. Famous for its clear and calm waters, it is considered the original place of the Incas and is inserted inside the Titicaca National Reserve where rare aquatic animals such as giant frogs live.

But it's not enough. Bolivia is also its administrative capital, La Paz , the highest in the world, which stands out on the Andean plateau 3670 meters above sea level. Colorful, lively, dominated by the imposing Cordillera Real, it is a labyrinth of sounds and colors in which to immerse yourself to discover the authentic soul of Latin America.

Among the various destinations it offers, a visit is certainly worth it Witches Market, Witches' Market, where herbs, filters, natural products and healing amulets with the ancestral rites of the local tradition are on sale.

Furthermore, La Paz is the starting point of “Death Road”, the Yungas Road, a spectacular and dangerous connection with Yungas and the Amazon which today attracts thousands of cycle tourists and extreme lovers.

After the difficult 2020 which almost eliminated tourism, Bolivia is now ready to restart, capturing the eyes and hearts of its inhabitants.
