A splendid holiday immersed in nature, gently rocked by the water: this is what Vlotkamp promises, a truly unique experience capable of surprising you. In Belgium, it is in fact possible to sleep in the middle of a lake, in small rafts where you will feel like you are alone in the world.
The brainchild of Tobias Knockaert and Kika Merlin, the same ones who last year created a beautiful "hotel" made up of tree houses, camping on the lake is an innovative holiday that allows you to leave the chaos of the city behind and dive into suggestive nature. The delicious floating rafts they are located in the center of a small body of water not far from Zuienkerke, a town located in Western Flanders.
âraft campingâ â that's the literal meaning of Raft Camp â it is a temporary project, which you can only take advantage of until 28 September 2021. In fact, it is during the summer that you can fully enjoy this incredible experience, when the temperatures are mild and it is more difficult to encounter days of bad weather. In case of summer storms or strong gusts of wind, for the safety of campers, the stay will be postponed without additional costs.
But let's see what they are amazing features of this innovative holiday method. The campsite is equipped with 8 rafts on which simple tents are installed: each of these "suites" was created using recycled materials, starting from recycled barrels and old tires that allow the structure to float. The rafts are reachable only by canoe and are well spaced from each other, so as to grant maximum privacy to their guests.
On the shore, near a hotel that enjoys a splendid view, there are gods bathrooms equipped with shower and sink (there is also hot water, of course). However, the rafts are equipped with a mini toilet to be used only for emergencies. Furthermore, in the tent it is possible to use a battery-operated light, so as not to remain completely in the dark during the night. Naturally, in full respect of the surrounding environment, they are there some rules to respect: it is not possible to bring your four-legged friends with you (also for their safety), you cannot swim or fish in the lake and it is strictly forbidden to light fires.
If you want to enjoy this wonderful adventure but the idea of ââbeing completely surrounded by water intimidates you, no fear: a raft is anchored to the shore and is also accessible to disabled people. Even this solution still allows you to live a magnificent experience.
