Roussillon, a charming town located in the Luberon region of France, is recognized as one of the most charming and picturesque towns in the country. The warm tones of the rocks that surround it are the effect of one rich abundance of ocher pigments. This gives Roussillon a distinctive appearance and makes it a destination with incredible cultural and artistic charm.


Legend has it that the earth turned red due to the blood shed by the beautiful Sirmonde, who, oppressed by grief for the murder of her lover committed by her husband, committed suicide by jumping from the cliffs. This story colors the history of the country with dramatic and romantic tones. However, the reality behind the characteristic ocher color of the landscape is more concrete, but no less fascinating.

In fact, this region once housed the largest ocher quarry in Europe. When it was abandoned, time, climate and atmospheric erosion worked together to create an extraordinary landscape which appears to have been molded by the hand of a sculptor.

Il Path of the Ochers It winds between the vermilion rocks of the Valley of the Fairies and the imposing cliffs of the Giants. These rock formations offer unique and particular shapes that capture the imagination.

Originally an ocher quarry, today this place is known as the Provençal Colorado, a canyon that surprises with its grandeur. Its rock formations, in fact, recall the silhouettes of fairy chimneys and create a charming landscape.



Every corner vibrates with a colorful and lively energy that envelops and fascinates. A place where time seems to stop, allowing visitors to connect deeply with nature and its incomparable beauty.

Unlike the Sentiero delle Ocre, which offers a well-structured route that is easily accessible to everyone thanks to stairs and walkways, this naturalistic space is explored through a series of hiking trails of various lengths and degrees of difficulty. An adventurous experience full of challenges, which requires certain physical preparation and a good sense of direction.
