Where the white is purer and the snow is softer. The Ötztal Valley in Tyrol stretches for 67 km in a southerly direction and offers an excellent variety of panoramas and views that the mountains of austria can offer: the Ötztaler Alpen has more than 250 peaks above 3.000 meters, of which 6 exceed 3.400 meters.
Record heights, at least in the Eastern Alps, and the magnificence of the largest glacier. However, the valley is not only a destination for climbers and adventurers: they can be counted beyond 1.300 km of trails.
These are routes suitable for all types of hikers, from beginners to experts, between meadows, pastures, forests, streams and romantic side valleys. But also pleasant surprises: here in 1991 it was discovered the similar mummy, in good condition, dating from 3.300 BC. The monument to Otzi Man is located near the Similaun Shelter.
In the middle of the valley is Langenfeld, preferred by lovers of hiking, running or Nordic Walking. 150 km of trails, 70 km of cycle paths and 120 km of routes. And lots of relaxation: the first (and so far only) spa in Tyrol is located here. The Aqua Dome Tirol Therme Längenfeld offers the best conditions for relaxation and well-being in both summer and winter.
Further south is Sölden, the heart of the valley, a paradise for athletes: cycling, mountain biking, paragliding, hiking and trekking. With its 467 km1.300 extension, it is the largest municipality in the nation. Its hiking area ranges between 3.700 and 300 m, with 21 km of well-maintained and marked trails, cozy cabins where you can stop and XNUMX mountain lakes.
Obergurgl It is the highest municipality in Austria: it is located at 1.800 m. Where the lifts end, the Obergurgl-Hochgurgl ski area begins. In the ski area you should not miss the view from the Wurmkogel, at 3.082 meters it is the highest viewpoint in the ski area.
