Organizing a holiday in Brac also means choosing carefully right area to stay.
Less touristy than the islands of Hvar and Korkula, known above all for the famous beach of Golden War, Brac is the perfect choice for one holiday made of sea, sun and relaxation. The important thing, however, is to understand which are the main tourist resorts and choose the one that best suits your needs.
In this article we go to discover the best areas to sleep in Brac.
Where to sleep in Brac
Brac is the largest island in Dalmatia and third largest in Croatia, which is why choosing the perfect base to stay will influence the outcome of your holiday.
The two main resorts on the island are Supertar, where the ferries arrive and Bowl where is the beach of Golden War. Both are 2 excellent starting points for exploring the island, in particular Bol, due to the proximity to the most beautiful beaches. Bol and Superstar are also the places where you can find a minimum of evening life.
Alternatively there are other beautiful towns such as Milna, Sumartin, Postira, Sutivan, less chaotic but with all the necessary services, lots of nature and splendid coasts.
But let's see each location better, so as to orient you more precisely in the right choice.
Bol: The most beautiful beach
Bol, as I have already said has the advantage of having the most famous beach on the island, Zlatni Rat, also known as Golden Horn for its particular triangular shape that varies according to the tides and the wind.
Famous all over the world, the Golden Horn is also the most touristy and crowded beach, but fortunately there are other beautiful pebble or coarse sand beaches where you can find fewer people but an equally beautiful sea.
Plus Bol is the right choice for those looking for a bit of evening life, with a wide choice of restaurants, clubs and cocktail bars.
In short, Bol is the ideal place for those who want to enjoy the sea during the day, the island's real strength, and in the evening be a stone's throw from clubs and restaurants.
Supetar: Evening Life and Beautiful Beaches
Supetar (San Pietro), the capital of the island, is one of the main towns in Dalmatia, connected to Split by the ferry line. It is located in the northern part and is a good base for exploring Brac and the other islands. There are many bays and beaches, most of them within easy walking distance of the city center.
The city offers an interesting evening life, especially in summer, with many bars, pubs and restaurants between the center and the seafront.
Milna: Relaxing Vacation
Milna located on the west coast in 18 km from Supetar it is a small town perfect for those looking for a holiday of total relaxation and beautiful beaches at lower prices than Supetar and Bol, both for accommodation and restaurants.
A small town ideal for a couple's stay with a beautiful natural harbor where you can stroll, with beaches sheltered from the winds and a transparent sea.
In addition to a few restaurants, however, Milna does not offer much and for the evening life you have to go to Supetar.
Postira: Family Vacation
Another good solution for those looking for a quiet place and not excessive prices is Postira, a town on the north coast located about 10 km from Supetar. There are many beautiful beaches mostly of gravel and rocks, surrounded by the pine forest; do not miss the bay of Lovrecina and Mala Lozna.
Perfect place to rest and for a family vacation.
Sumartin: Quiet Area and Beautiful Beaches
Sumartin is a small town, developed around a marina, located on the east coast about 25 km from Bol. For those who don't like crowded places, Sumartin is the right choice.
The strong point is definitely the beautiful beaches near the town. Like the namesake Sumartin Beach, white beach and a blue and crystalline sea, considered by many to be one of the most beautiful beaches in Croatia.
Sumartin also represents an important link with continental Croatia, thanks to the maritime connections with Makarska.
Sumartin is a very quiet place besides some good restaurants there is not much more, don't expect parties and nightlife, in case you can always reach Bol.
In general, the area is particularly recommended for families with children.
