If you plan to stay in Miami for more than one night and are looking for the real Miami, the one known from Hollywood movies, then there Miami's best area to sleep in is definitely Miami Beach, in particular South Beach (SoBe), the most famous and the liveliest in the city, with shops, restaurants and clubs for the evening.
The South Beach beach is beautiful, very wide and always clean, white sand and a crystal clear sea, with Caribbean colors.
South Beach is also easy to reach by public transport and can be easily reached on foot or by bicycle.
If you choose to stay in South Beach you will have at your fingertips the beautiful beaches, the picturesque and unique Art Deco District and the lively nightlife.
If you are not interested in the nightlife of South Beach and prefer a relaxing holiday on the beautiful beaches, in a quieter atmosphere and with more affordable prices, you will have to move further north of Miami Beach, to North Beach not to be confused with North Miami Beach which is a municipality located in the northern part of Miami-Dade County.
HOTEL A MIAMI BEACHBest Hotel in South Beach
The Clay Hotel
1438 Washington Avenue, South Beach, Miami Beach, FL 33139, USA
This year for our trip between Costa Rica and Panama, we decided to do 2 days of stopover in Miami. Not having a car we chose to stay in the real Miami, South Beach, just to have everything close.
Obviously the prices in South Beach are quite high and it was not easy to find a Hotel in a good location at an affordable price, luckily we discovered the The Clay Hotel.
The price, compared to Miami beach standards, was great, about $ 100 per night, plus tax and a daily supplement.
The location was also fabulous in the center of South Beach, on Espanola Way, a beautiful street full of trendy bars and restaurants. The beach is very close, 5 minutes on foot.
The hotel reception is located in a building on Washington Avenue, between 14th and 15th streets, which can also be easily reached by bus from the airport.
Our room was located in a building one block from the hotel reception, even better because it was slightly detached from the premises.
Rooms at the The Clay Hotel, not very big but very clean and quiet, they are equipped with fridge, kettle, air conditioning, satellite TV, safe and wifi. The only thing to consider is that there is no elevator.
Breakfast, served on the ground floor of the building where the rooms are located, consists of a box with yogurt, a muffin and delicious biscuits, bread, butter and jam, fruit, tea or coffee and fruit juice inside.
Overall, I fully recommend The Clay Hotel, for the strategic location in a pleasant street, for the comfortable and clean rooms and for the price, hard to find better in South Beach.
Room tip: The hotel is under renovation, there may be rooms not yet renovated, when booking ask for a renovated room !!
