A Christmas fairy tale self-respecting, to be considered such, needs lights and colors to warm anyone from the cold winter. Better if there is also snow to frame its atmospheres, as well as the scents of toasted almonds, cinnamon and mulled wine that spread through the air, just to make the experience engaging for all the senses.

And no, we are not reading the first lines of a fantastic story, we are telling you about a warm and welcoming Copenhagen, dressed up for the holidays. We are telling you about the city that was renamed as the Capital of Christmas. Ready to rediscover it?

A trip to the capital of Denmark, between the months of November and December, can represent a real challenge for those sensitive to the cold, but in reality this is also the charm of the northern territories during the winter season. And then, if on the one hand the snow and low temperatures can be scary, it is also true that all you need to do is walk among the city lights and chat with the locals to find an extraordinary warmth that will above all warm your heart.

Christmas in Copenhagen is pure wonder: an extraordinary experience for the eyes, the soul and the heart, because it is during this period that we can experience first-hand the most authentic essence of hygge, that philosophy of happiness that won us over from the first moment.

Walking in the surreal Tivoli Gardens dressed up for the occasion, sipping Gløgg and warming up, ice skating in company: it is in these little things that all the magic of Christmas is hidden that you live in the city. But let's go in order to find out what awaits us Copenhagen during the Advent period.

Whichever part of the city you decide to start from to follow your itinerary, you can't do it without it a hot cup of Gløgg, a traditional drink from Scandinavian countries similar to mulled wine. Allowing yourself to be carried away by the sweet scent of gingerbread biscuits and the Christmas lights that shine like stars, you can reach the historic garden of the city.

The atmosphere here is unparalleled. Sparkling lights, wooden houses and decorations of all kinds recreate a real Nordic Christmas fairy tale. Obviously, there is no shortage of reindeer and Santa's helpers that can be found on the street. In the Tivoli Gardens the atmosphere is grandiose: there are more than 70000 decorations and over 1000 Christmas trees.

The magic, obviously, also spreads to the rest of the city. The new heart of Copenhagen is home to the Christmas market of Nytorv square, perhaps the most fairytale of the city. The stalls, in fact, are all named after and inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales.

Also the Copenhagen ZOO welcomes Christmas and for the occasion offers an old-fashioned market made of ancient traditions, trees, stalls and magic.

Christmas also continues in the rest of the city. The entrance to the Frederiksberg Garden, in fact, in this period is transformed into a huge ice skating rink, free and open to all, to live incredible experiences.

Højbro Plads, invece, si trasforma nel magico village of Santa Claus. In an atmosphere characterized by sparkling lights and decorations, in fact, you will be able to meet elves, reindeer and perhaps even him, Santa Claus.
