A stone's throw from the Italian border, in the Canton of Ticino, there is a wonderful itinerary where, to admire the breathtaking panorama from the Swiss mountains, some very fun swings have been positioned.

The "swing spots” are particular points identified to offer an incomparable view of the Ticino area. The top of a mountain, a dense forest, a beach by the lake: there is something for all tastes. One thing all swings have in common: the scenery.

The list of swings it is very long and is destined to expand. There are 15 in the entire Canton, from the lakeside of Ascona to the Centovalli, from Locarno to Monte Generoso. Many are close to the border with Italy.

The spectacular “swing” of Pizzo Zucchero

Like the "swing" of Pizzo Zucchero, in Val Onsernone, at 1.899 meters above sea level. It can be reached after taking the Zott cable car which takes you to the top of Pizzo, from which you can enjoy a 360 degree view up to Monte Rosa. The landscape here is enchanting, with the lake and the Salei hut.

Another swing is located in Centovalli, in the village of Rasa, considered, due to its view, one of the most interesting in Switzerland. Located at 900 meters above sea level, it can only be reached on foot or with the cable car that goes up from Verdasio. The harmony of its stone buildings and the silence that passes through the orchards and gardens make it a truly special corner.

The swing of the village of Rasa

In this splendid valley there are other swings. One is that of the Aula Mountains. The best way to get there is by taking the cable car from Verdasio towards Comino, then following the indicated path. From up here you can enjoy a unique view of the Pedemonte lands and Lake Maggiore. Another is the Costa "swing", near the Grottino cable car.

It is no less the village of Morcote, where there is another swing. The village, with its characteristic streets, the arches of the ancient patrician houses and the monuments, is nicknamed the "Pearl of Ceresio“. The local radio, Radio Morcote International, considered Switzerland's best rock station, broadcasts music for those who want to swing on the swing to the rhythm of a song. Just download it with a QR Code.

Not far away there is another one. It is the swing of the San Grato Park, in Carona, a gigantic garden that hosts the largest collection of azaleas, rhododendrons and conifers, in terms of variety and quantity, in the Insubria area. Between San Salvatore and Monte ArbĂČstora, about 10 kilometers from Lugano, it is located about 700 meters above sea level and offers an incomparable view of Lake Lugano and the Alps.

One of the most spectacular swings is located on the top of Monte Generoso, the most panoramic peak in Ticino and one of the most beautiful in Switzerland. Here, the view extends as far as the Apennines as well as the Alps, with the Gran Paradiso chain, Monte Rosa and even the Matterhorn (which on the Italian side is called Cervino), including the Jungfrau (4.158 meters high) and the massif of Gotthard.

The swing of the Foroglio waterfall, in Val Bavona

The Foroglio swing, in Val Bavona, is also panoramic to die for, from where you can admire one of the most fascinating waterfalls in the Canton as well as one of the most famous in Switzerland. The 110 meter drop of water in the midst of uncontaminated nature is breathtaking. The nearby farming village is also very picturesque.

To enjoy a completely different landscape, seen from a swing, you have to go to the center of Ascona where there is one overlooking the waters of Lake Maggiore, in the city's Lungolago square, famous for its colorful houses with a Mediterranean character. Also on the lake, but in Locarno, there is the Cardada swing. From here, the view of the body of water is crazy.

There are also two “swings” in the Leventina Valley, the one in the village of Predùlp, also reachable by car, and that of Airolo, a rather popular location due to the numerous activities that can be done, such as mountain biking. The swing is located after the second cable car at the height of “Sasso della Boggia.

Then there are the two swings of Nara, in the Blenio Valley, which dominate the valley from a sunny hill and above all theAdula, the highest peak in the Canton of Ticino (3402 meters).

There would be two other swings in Ticino which, however, are closed, and they are that of Shaka Beach, in Vira Gambarogno, a small village near Locarno, and that of Camping Campofelice in Tenero, also in the same area. The coordinates to reach them more easily are also indicated on the Canton Ticino website.
