Blue Eye, “blue eye” (in Albanian “Syri i Kalter”). Blue like the color of the natural spring found in Albania.

A phenomenon that can be admired in Muzinë, a village in the mountain county of Vlorë. A very popular site among Albanians, but almost unknown to the increasingly numerous tourists who visit the country every year.

Le very transparent waters of the river - also thanks to the pure white of the limestone rocks - boil from the bowels at a depth of over 50 metres. Divers regularly dive to such depths, but no one has ever been able to explain the phenomenon nor what lies at the bottom of the waterway.

The Blue Eye is the initial part of the source of the Bistricë River, a 25 kilometer long river that flows into the Ionian Sea south of Saranda.

The occupied area measures less than two square kilometers, so it is quite small and almost impossible to find, hidden amidst the dense oak and sycamore forest.

It can only be reached on foot after walking for about 2 km. From Saranda it is a beautiful day trip. Buses also reach us. It is worth visiting this uncontaminated and hypnotically beautiful corner of Albania. Because it is candidate for UNESCO World Heritage status, if it were to become a site protected by the United Nations Organization it will be difficult to find it still intact and without crowds.
