Surreal and intriguing, this seemingly cinematic landscape transports anyone who has the courage to go this far, into avery distant and ancient era, that of prehistory.
And looking at the photos, it wouldn't surprise us if anyone who ended up here thought they had ended up in one of the settings of the famous film Jurassic Park.
In reality we are in a territory far from film sets, in the province of Santiago de Cuba: it is here that a project was carried out by the inmates of a nearby prison that envisaged a real return to the past.
A bizarre theme park that one would not expect to find in Cuba, a land of sea and beauty, but which can amaze with its magnificence and its very existence.
We are in Valley of Prehistory, in Santiago de Cuba, here more than 200 life-size productions create an almost fairy-tale setting, inspired however by a world that really existed. Tyrannosaurs, brontosaurs and also reproductions of stone age men: walking among these impressive statues is an incredible experience.
The Valley of Prehistory presents, before the incredulous eyes of visitors, a now vanished world that has its roots in over two million years ago. Here gigantic concrete dinosaurs and depictions of cavemen coexist, peacefully in this case, in an area of 11 hectares.
The valley is located within the Baconao Park declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO due to the presence of over 1800 species of native flora and many species of bats and spiders in danger of extinction. The place itself is worth an entire trip to enjoy nature and all the activities available, ranging from diving, to rodeos, passing through a wide variety of museums and cultural activities.
Not only the Valley of Prehistory, also worthy of being known The Great Stone and the surroundings of the plantation The Isabelica, Botanical Garden, Sculpture Meadow and many other places of interest.
Parque Baconao, which is located about a hundred kilometers east of Santiago, preserves a series of beautiful beaches, the most enchanting in the area, and many other wonders to discover such as the prehistoric park with life-size reproductions of animals.
What will the creators of Jurassic Park think of this prehistoric valley?
