The United States heads to Cuba, departing on May 1, 2016 the cruise ship Adonia of Carnival Cruises did the trip from Miami to Havana, this is the first of the periodic trips that will connect Cuba to Florida.
The Cuban government has eliminated restrictions on Cuban sea travel to and from the States, enough to finally allow Cuban-Americans to embark. It hadn't happened in decades. The week-long cruise features two stops in the ports of Cienfuegos and Santiago and brought 700 passengers. The ticket for this one historic cruise it costs starting from 1,600 euros and includes excursions and cultural events.
Carnival's Fathom cruise line planned to operate the cruise every two weeks to follow President Obama's intentions of encourage travel to Cuba, after relations between the United States and the Caribbean state, interrupted in 17, were re-established on 2014 December 1961. After this relaxing act, many tourists traveled to discover the historic center of Havana.
This is an important step towards normalization of relations between the two countries. To date, Americans can only go to Cuba for cultural, academic, sporting or religious occasions because the trade embargo is still active.
