Mauritius reopens to tourism: what are the rules to follow

Mauritius reopens to tourism: what are the rules to followMauritius reopens its borders to international travelers in 2 phases: the rules to follow

A confirmation awaited by many has arrived: that of the reopening of Mauritius' borders to international travellers. The expected date is July 15th, although the path towards the normal tourist flow will follow 2 different phases and with the following rules.

During the first stage, which will run from 15 July to 30 September 2021, entry will be permitted to fully vaccinated travelers only. However, tourists will have to remain within the areas of the resorts in which they stay, where they will be able to use all the facilities, including swimming pools and private beaches. They will be allowed to leave only if the stay lasts more than 14 days and after testing negative on a PCR test.

Hotels are gearing up to welcome guests foreign tourists and they are starting to take bookings. We can find the best offers on Booking for the West Coast of Mauritius on Booking, the area where we can find the most famous beaches such as the famous Flic-en-Flac.

In addition to being fully vaccinated, adult travelers aged 18 and over will need to present proof ofnegative result of a PCR test carried out before the trip and will be tested again upon arrival; further tests will be carried out – possibly – on the seventh and 14th day of the holiday in Mauritius.

La phase two of the reopening it will instead begin from 1 October 2021. In this case vaccinated travelers will be able to enter theIsland without any restrictions, always presenting the negative result of a PCR test carried out within 72 hours before departure.

I Unvaccinated travelers will be subject to 14 days of quarantine in room for both phases one and two until further notice.

The splendid island in the Indian Ocean, after a period of relative tranquility, found itself in March having to deal with the second wave of Covid-19 and closed the borders with the rest of the world. A sacrifice for a country where tourism represents one of the largest items in the national GDP, but which has focused everything on "safety first". In fact, in recent weeks, Mauritius has accelerated the pace of its vaccination campaign, giving priority to frontline workers in the tourism sector. The country is aiming for herd immunity by the end of September.

Please remember, however, that according to current Italian legislation (and in force until 30 July 2021) it is not yet possible to travel for tourism from Italy to Mauritius, as it is part of List E. For this reason, before making a travel, we invite you to view the institutional websites of the destination countries, and the web page of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation ViaggiareSicuri, in order to always stay updated on any changes to the current regulations.

Le reservations for Mauritius have already begun. Among the most popular areas, in addition to the western part, we recommend the North Coast where the beautiful Grand Baie is located, characterized by sandy beaches and a pristine sea where we find many sailing boats. To stay in this enchanting area, we can check hotel availability directly on Booking.
