Many associate a holiday in Mauritius with a honeymoon. You can do all the water activities possible and imaginable, including snorkeling along the coral reef that surrounds the entire island and doing the swimming with dolphins. For the more active and adventurous there are many trekking routes in the Yemen Nature Reserve on the West coast, in the Domaine de l'Etoile on the East coast and in the Reserve Frederica in the South of the island. And in Port Louis, a multi-ethnic city, with its Le Caudan Waterfront, the seafront on which hotels, casinos, cinemas, shops, bars and numerous restaurants stand and its famous market, a riot of scents and colors and local craftsmanship.
From the end of October 2018 a new direct Alitalia flight will depart from Rome Fiumicino. Until then, to reach the island you need to make a stopover. Among the airlines that fly to Mauritius are Air Mauritius and Air France via Paris, Emirates via Dubai, Turkish Airlines via Istanbul, Lufthansa via Frankfurt.
