Seychelles, the most beautiful beaches are on the island of La DigueWho would have ever imagined that a small island in the Seychelles archipelago like La Digue would host one of the most beautiful beaches in the world? Yet that's exactly how it is.

It is Anse Source d'Argent, one of the most iconic beaches, a dream corner, with its imposing granite rocks, symbol of the Seychelles. Source d'Argent is one of the most photographed beaches in the world.

This paradise is easily accessible from the port of La Digue, where you arrive by ferry whether you decide to spend a holiday on the island or, instead, come for a day trip. On foot or by bike, it's the only way to get around here (only those who have a commercial business own a van).

If you happen to come to La Digue, however, you must keep in mind the tide factor: this wonderful beach is only beautiful in the morning, because in the afternoon the low tide causes the sea to retreat and the image you will have of it will not be so exceptional. If you then consider that there is a fee to enter the beach - the only one on the whole island - make sure you go at the right time.

Anse Source d'Argent is not the only postcard-perfect beach on La Digue. There are about twenty of them on the tiny island, one more beautiful than the other. Grand Anse it's just as fabulous. It is located exactly on the opposite side of the island and, to reach it by bicycle, you take a long road that goes up and down through a dense tropical forest. The sand here is so white it is dazzling.

Grand Anse is quite wild and is framed by majestic rock formations. Often it is semi deserted, you will feel like Robinson Crusoe on his desert island. There are no umbrellas to take shelter under, but only tiny bamboo huts to at least protect your head. The lucky few who arrive first grab the few corners of shade under the rocks.

Following a stone path – not indicated, but just ask the owner of the only bar on the beach – you climb over the rocks and arrive at the other side, where the smallest beach of Little Anse. Here too the landscape is spectacular and its secluded position makes it a real postcard.

There is also one of the most famous beaches in the Seychelles Anse Cocos, a natural swimming pool and a dream corner, with some abandoned buildings in the background which make it the favorite subject for photographers.

Another beach on La Digue is famous for its beauty: Ants Cove. You can get there by taking an abandoned road along the coast heading east. It is a thin strip of white sand, framed by rocks, palm trees and dense vegetation.

Microscopy and rocky is Cayman Cove, a very isolated corner with an abandoned house and a large dugout-shaped hut. As well as Anse Banana, a thin strip of sand that is very popular above all because of the spectacular view of four islands. The only form of life here, besides tourists, is the owner of a little bar that serves fresh fruit juices.

For those visiting the island with children, it is highly recommended Union Cove, perfect for snorkeling. Thanks to the coral reef, the sea is calm and without danger. As well as Anse Severe, one of the most spectacular and loved beaches on La Digue with easy access. It has calm, shallow waters, perfect for snorkeling, swimming and paddling. From this bend you can enjoy breathtaking sunsets.

If from the port of La Digue you take the only road heading north, you come across several small beaches where you can stop, park your bicycle and take a dip in the shallow, crystal-clear water. At a certain point the road ends and you have to continue on foot, climbing through narrow and rocky paths wearing walking shoes. trekking. Whoever rented the bicycle will have to tie it up and leave it to be able to go around the island.

There are no large hotels on La Digue. Most of the accommodation on the island is very simple: small hotels, guesthouses, farmhouses, inns and apartments or villas that can be rented at attractive prices with Seyvillas which specializes in holiday homes or on the website of the Sychelles tourism office. There isn't even a real town centre, the main shops are located near the port.
