The future of travel may lie in Covid-free flights, an initiative that is enjoying great success internationally. Italy is also moving forward on this front, introducing new routes that reach some of the destinations most appreciated by tourists.
Covid-free flights, also called Covid-tested flights, guarantee a greater level of safety for passengers: all those who come on board must in fact have a negative molecular swab result, and it is an excellent method to avoid quarantine once they reach their destination - but also upon returning to Italy. In our country, this initiative has now reached phase 2, with several airports having joined the program and new long-haul routes that finally allow reopen to intercontinental travel.
The stopover of Roma Fiumicino had proposed its first Covid-free flights across the border last December, with routes to and from the United States, and later also added the airport of Milan Malpensa. Now the project is expanding, thanks to the new ordinance signed by the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza last May 14th which marks the start of a resumption of connections with various non-European countries. In the coming weeks - and in any case by the summer - Emirates flights will depart from Fiumicino airport directly to Dubai and Etihad flights heading to Abu DhabiFurthermore, new Alitalia routes with direction will be activated Tokyo Haneda and Air Canada routes to Toronto e Montreal.
Italy therefore reopens to the United Arab Emirates, Canada and Japan, a first step towards returning to normality. THE Covid-free flights in fact, they allow you to travel safely to new intercontinental destinations, thanks to the double swab mechanism which guarantees passengers the possibility of avoiding quarantine. There is also news arriving on the United States front, since the main airlines that connect them to Italy have announced new Covid-tested routes.
American Airlines kicked off the dance with flights from New York to Milan and Rome and with those from Dallas to Rome. Delta Air Lines will join the route starting July 2 New York – Venice and, from August 5, with the routes Atlanta – Venice e Boston – Roma. Finally, United Airlines is planning flights from New York to Rome (from June 4) and to Milan (from June 5).
