There are many things to do and see here, but if it's aunique experience that you want to live in the city, to disconnect from everything and everyone and to experience moments of authentic beauty, then the advice is to reach the Japanese Tea Garden.
As the name itself suggests, the Japanese Tea Garden it is a Japanese tea garden which is inspired by the culture of the Land of the Rising Sun. Located inside Golden Gate Park, the largest park in the city, this place allows you to take a journey through the beauties of Japan, despite being on the other side of the world.
The origins of the Japanese Tea Garden date back to 1894 when, on the occasion of the California Midwinter International Exposition, this small naturalistic corner of about an acre was created. At the end of the exhibition, however, landscape architect Makoto Hagiwara was commissioned to create a permanent Japanese garden. Thus was born the Japanese Tea Garden which today extends over an area of over two hectares and which is the oldest Japanese garden in the United States of America.
The Japanese Garden in California
Visiting a Japanese tea garden is an experience that we should all have at least once in our lives. Inside these places, where you can breathe beauty, peace and silence, you have the feeling of getting lost and immersed in a painting made of wonderful colors and inebriating scents. A sensation that can also be experienced during a trip to San Francisco, visiting the interiors of Golden Gate Park.
Once you arrive in the Japanese garden, the surrounding landscape transforms. Thus lakes, bridges, a Buddhist temple and a tea room appear, framed by a lush nature characterized by systematically arranged endemic species.
Walking through the green streets of the garden, and getting lost in them, allows travelers to leave the chaos of the city behind and enjoy an authentic experience in the name of beauty and nature. But that's not all, because inside the Japanese Tea Garden it is also possible to participate in the characteristic Japanese tea ceremony inside the Tea House.
