    Spain celebrates Cervantes on the 470th anniversary of his death. These are some of the events dedicated to the famous author of Don Quixote.

    This year Spain celebrates the 400th anniversary of the death of Miguel de Cervantes. He is the most famous Spanish writer, born in AlcalĂĄ de Henares, near Madrid, and lived between the second half of the 6th century and the first half of the 7th century. Cervantes was later sold into slavery but five years passed before he managed to return to Spain.




    His career as a writer began in 1580, when he published the pastoral novel La Galatea. His most famous novel, considered by the Spanish as the best work in the history of humanity, is Don Quixote of La Mancha, Divided in two parts. Between the first and second parts, the author wrote his longest poetic work: The Journey to Parnassus.

    Miguel de Cervantes died in Madrid on April 23, 1616, at the age of 69. Therefore, on the occasion of the fourth centenary of his death, Spain can only celebrate its greatest writer, famous throughout the world, with a series of initiatives your dedicated.

    Among these events is the exposure “Miguel de Cervantes, of life”, in the National Library of Spain in Madrid, where the life of the famous writer is covered. Another exhibition, also in Madrid, recounts all the travels of the writer and Don Quixote through the photographs of Manuel Navia.
